stuff we love :: friday, july 29

...this chandelier we spotted at anthropologie in hill center are you kidding me? so cool. this would be perfection at a wedding, hanging over a cake table in a tent, etc, etc. or, just in our dining room. we'll just ignore the $4000 price tag for now. oh anthro, how we love you!

stuff we love :: friday, july 22

...the bridesmaid dresses from this wedding posted on style me pretty a few days ago. we love the idea of mismatched bridesmaid dresses, and this one gets it just right! you could give your bridesmaids a range of colors (you could even give them paint swatches as a guide if you're worried they'll stray too far) and let them choose their own dresses! love the custom clutches too...

view the entire wedding here for more color inspiration. gorgeous!

...the invitations for a wedding we did back in may, designed by tenn hens design. bonnie and currier did an amazing job bringing this bride's vision to life. she loved the idea of stitched fabric, so the ladies ran with it and came up with the most beautiful handcrafted invitation! (photo by tenn hens)

they really set the tone for the rest of the wedding decor (more to come on that). check out more details and great pics on tenn hens' blog here!

stuff we love

in this business we come across so many things... whether it's a beautiful new linen, a flower arrangement that blows our minds, a cool tarnished bucket that might be perfect to display programs, and tons of other items and concepts and colors and ideas that inspire us and our work on our events every single day. we thought it might be fun to share some of that inspiration with you all, so we're starting a new blog entry- stuff we love! so without further ado... we give you our first....

these new-ish forever stamps from usps! they have such a great design and fun colors. we happened to be looking for stamps for invites for one of our august weddings, and these turned out to be a perfect match! we need to stock up on these babies for the future....they are forever stamps, after all...

kristen + galen :: 3.12.11

kristen and galen were married on march 12, 2011, a gorgeous and warm spring day! wedding was at christ presbyterian church (where kristen and her family are longtime members), and reception was held at the war memorial downtown (as i'm sure you folks know by now, is one of our favorites!) thanks to the ever fabulous photographer mary rosenbaum for these gorgeous shots...

kristen's bouquet was absolutely stunning. martha really knocked this one out of the park!

the moms carried mussy tussys in silver vases with stands. it's a great keepsake- you can even have it engraved with the wedding date after it's all over!

bridesmaids in taupe silk tafetta with bouquets in shades of ivory and pastel- kristen loved blue hydrangeas and white roses
mary did such a great job with kristen and galen's portraits....of course it didn't hurt that kristen and galen are adorable, and kristen is a ballroom dancer- she had such grace, poise and movement all day

arrangement in the sanctuary with french tulips, hydrangeas, delphinium, stock, and cherry blossom branches:

on to the reception...did we mention kristen is a professional ballroom dancer? i think galen may have received some training too- definitely a "dancing with the stars" worthy first dance!

kristen loves jordan almonds, and also loves bird nests (they were incorporated throughout her stationery)- so we did a tablescape in the lobby that incorporated little "birds' nests" of jordan almonds:

more cherry blossom branches, locally sourced!

the main table arrangements were topiaries of roses and hydrangeas in ivory, blue and pink:

and, we couldn't let this blog post pass without mentioning the food. it. was. incredible. kristen winston did a great job, and boy oh boy, did mary rosenbaum do a great job of shooting the food!?! it is beautiful!

we packed hydrangeas around the base of the cake, and then the cake table itself had a petticoat...that's right people...we basically turned this table into scarlett o'hara...it's a great way to add some drama! the lace overlay was a vintage piece from kristen's family.

what a great night! and, to cap it all off, kristen let us know that she and galen are expecting their first child this fall!!!! many congrats to you both, and thank you for letting us be a part of your special day.

katie + daniel :: 2.19.11

katie and daniel were married on february 19, 2011. they had a morning ceremony at west end community church and reception afterwards at the phoenix room at bound'ry restaurant in midtown.

but first- we took a few pictures at katie's grandmother's lovely house in green hills. great thing about the south- you can take pictures outside in february! isn't she lovely? the veil is the same one that both her grandmother and mother wore for their weddings. we matched the bridal bouquet to the tie the groom wore- yellow with periwinkle polka dots:

katie wanted a pop of fuschia in the bridesmaids' bouquets to contrast against their black dresses. we loved the pop of texture and green that the berzilia berries added to these:

the sanctuary at katie and daniel's church is actually...well...a gymnasium! so we did some strategic draping, lighting, and floral arrangements to create the look of a traditional altar.

another masterpiece from dessert designs- white chocolate curl cake!

arrangements in the phoenix room- lots of greenery, willow branches, yellow roses and periwinkle hydrangeas:

congrats katie and daniel!
