lauren + josh :: 2.25.11

we did lauren and josh's wedding and reception back in february at aVenue downtown. we had a great time working with them- they were both so hip and fun with lauren's music biz experience and josh's tech skills. they knew they wanted a creative and modern wedding with an urban feel, and what fun it was putting it all together! and thanks to michael howard for the amazing photos!

always love a crossing-the-street-downtown-wedding shot. one can't help but think of the beatles crossing abbey road...or wait, maybe that's just us...

lauren wanted a dramatic and modern bouquet, so we incorporated callas, orchids, and anemones in rich jewel tones. it looked incredible against her gorgeous vera wang tulle gown

for a twist, the flower girl carried a monogram covered in flowers down the aisle!

for the mothers, we did smaller nosegays incorporating some of the same flowers in the bridal bouquet:

aVenue all set up for the ceremony. we had both the ceremony and reception there, so we started with chairs on the dance floor to create an "aisle" and then the rest of the guests sat at the surrounding dinner tables and sofas.

they're married! congrats! (p.s. how much do you love lauren's black sash? so cute!)

lauren and josh did these awesome paintings...all the words and numbers are places and dates that have been significant to them in some way (their wedding date, addresses where they have lived, etc. )

more orchids floating with candles and black river rock- great look for not a lot of $$!

manzanita branches with crystals and orchids

another masterpiece by leland at dessert designs...decorated with black and white anemones, always a favorite over at big events

from our collection are these "crosswind" vases....they're glass balls that are open on both ends so you can feed anything you want inside, almost like a mini terrarium (or a space helmet depending on how your brain works). we love to make little scapes in these with river rock, moss, and in this case, calla lillies, hydrangea, and greenery-

guests took pictures with lauren & josh's old polaroid cameras and then signed them for a twist on a normal guest book:

as the dances started, lauren and josh danced to all you need is love by the beatles,

and then a super sweet father/daugther dance to anything you want by roy orbison,

and then josh and his mom danced to apache by the sugar hill gang (for those of you that don't know- it's the TONTO! JUMP ON IT! song) and did the dance and everything. it was amazing and a total surprise to everyone- the look on the families' faces was priceless!

and maybe the coolest ring photo ever...so creative, michael!
congrats to you two...we had way too much fun helping you with your big day!

lipman sneak peek :: pottery barn advent calendar!

we spotted this advent calendar back around christmas at pottery barn and immediately loved its rustic feel and hanging buckets. we KNEW there would be a way to incorporate it into a vintage-inspired wedding...and so we bought away...

and, we found the perfect use for it....program holder!

the programs for the lipman wedding (more details to come soon!) were printed on card stock and then rolled into scrolls & tied with a teal ribbon. we hung the calendar from a tree and stuffed it full of the scrolls - we love the way it turned out!

so...it may be filled with christmas goodies come december, but we're putting it to good use until then!

anne + nate - 11.13.10

sorry for the blog silence!! our 2011 has been super busy so far- full of rehearsal dinners and weddings that we simply cannot wait to share with you all!

we'll start by catching you up on a wedding we did last november with kate murphy. she is so talented and has a great eye, and her photos really convey the emotion and love at this sweet fall wedding at belle meade plantation.

the plantation was looking amazing in its full fall regalia:

anne and nate, the happy couple- aren't they adorable?!? and anne's bridal bouquet with a variety of flowers including hydrangeas, berries and scabiosa pods:

bridesmaids bouquets with wheat, roses and calla lillies in fall colors:

the ring bearer carried this pillow made of moss:

the programs were printed on a chocolate brown damask paper and hung on the back of the chairs for the ceremony with a loop of brown satin ribbon:

ceremony was held in the stables! we softened the doors with a bit of draping and wrought iron chandelier arrangements. love that space!

anne and her mom loved fall touches like these cinderella pumpkins that we glazed:

and lots of wheat in the center arrangement for the buffet

instead of a typical guest book, we printed "hankies" on paper with this vintage floral motif and guests each signed one:

cigar bar for a nice november evening...custom monogrammed matchboxes too

the food was an assortment of mexican dishes (anne & nate's favorite kind of food)...so we decided to forego a traditional wedding cake and do anne's favorite tres leches cake ("three milks" in spanish). we did a cake table of four tres leches cakes on vintage glass cake stands. and we are here to tell you that it was delicious!!

and ribbon streamers were twirled by guests as the bride and groom made their exit at the end of the night.

what a great night! thanks for the pictures, kate, and all our love to this awesome bride and groom!
